(Dominic Pearson, Jet2 engaged in the topic of Pilot Selection) SG Aviation Services’ was pleased to host its biennial seminar on pilot supply and demand trends which took place in Dublin last month the 03rd & 04th of September. The 2015 seminar focussed on a Human Factors Approach and included expert key-note speakers from KM Flight Research, Contracting Plus, and Dedale SAS. Speakers looked at the need for a more comprehensive approach to psychological measures in Pilot Selection that are fit for purpose. This was unsurprisingly a topical part to the agenda over the course of the two days of the seminar and workshops given the recent Germanwings tragedy. One of the most insightful presentations on Day 1 came from Jean Paries, ex Head of BEA Accident Investigation and indus try leading expert on resilience who posed the question Do we still need Pilots? The 2015 seminar boasted over 70 delegates from airlines across the globe including Emirates, Korean Airlines, Norwegian, Qatar Airways, Ryanair, Aer Lingus, IndiGo, Turkish Airlines, AirArabia and Virgin Atlantic Airways to name but a few.
